With the rapid advancement in technology in today’s era, the world of journalism is also revolutionized. Earlier only print media was available but nowadays various forms of media have been launched. One such latest form of electronic media is “Social Media”.

Social media is a computer-based technology meant to increase the interaction of people within seconds. It is getting a lot of attention nowadays and is all because of its ease of use. The various popular sites include Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, etc. While one has to wait for a newspaper or a magazine to be published after, a stipulated time, social media allows people to interact with others in just seconds.
However, for the first time when a social media site came into recognition was in the year 1997. The name of the first such site was “Six Degrees” that enabled users to upload a profile and make friends. In the year 1999, the culture of blogging sites came into existence, which is a popular one today. After the introduction of the concept of blogging sites in the market, social media got a tremendous boon. Sites like MySpace and LinkedIn came into view and gained a lot of popularity; YouTube came out in the year 2005 and it completely redefined the manner in which people interact with one another. Some popular social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, Tumblr, etc.  were launched after 2006 and since then these sites are ruling the market.

The concept of social media is that it enables the people to interact with others in just seconds ,share their thoughts and views with a large number of people without any physical interaction with them , share photos ,videos ,etc. with others , communicate with their favorite celebrities , follow their lifestyle and get latest updates about what’s going on in the world. It can be attributed as the fastest form of communication in which a large amount of information can be passed on from one place to another, which can be miles apart in just few seconds. It helps people to make friends online and chat with them, follow others and interact with them. The Government Offices are also available online which enable common masses to directly communicate with the authorities and there are numerous instances where the ministries have got themselves involved in the problem solving of the common people. “Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn”

Above lines perfectly fit the scenario, which is created by these social sites. Despite having numerous benefits social sites also have some cons. These cons are not limited to only a particular sphere but it is diverse. Due to the various facilities and features provided by the social sites, people and especially teenagers are drifting towards using these sites in a way that is much harmful. Continuously using these sites requires one to remain in front of the computer or mobile screen which is causing a widespread increase in the problems and diseases which can even lead to partial or permanent vision damage. Many cases have been reported so far highlighting the problem of blindness caused due to continuous use of social media. It is a platform, which provides the facility to communicate with others without any physical interaction, which is causing problems because people tend to say those things while typing which is not possible while having some facial interaction. Continuous use of these sites and posting or updating personal information to a large audience also causes widespread conflicts in the personal life. Children who are underage are also using these sites and the some prohibited content is viewed by them, which inculcates lac of senility and increases stubbornness in their behavior. It also causes a drift from the studies of students. Addiction of social media is a growing concern for today’s society and its victim is generally the teenagers. Cyber bullying and Cyber crime cases are increasing rapidly day by day and the victims are generally the teenagers and especially girls. According to a report, there are over 15000 cases of cyber crime registered in India in the year 2016 alone. Due to these, many people are also committing suicide. A recent study suggests that continuous use of social media is increasing the suicidal tendency among the people.

Although, there are many benefits and uses of social media but its cons cannot be overlooked. These sites are gaining popularity but at the cost of our valuable time which is meant for our family, friends, relatives and also studies. Virtual world although increases our interaction with others but real world is much more beautiful. One should no doubt use the technology but in a limited way otherwise the consequences could be very hazardous.

Looking at above definitions I think you must have got some rough idea about the sensation... To make it more human-friendly try my definition about memes...
A meme is anything be it a picture, an audio or a couple of lines... which is intended to spread a social message just by mocking at a famous personality or statement.
Frankly speaking, I am sure that you must not have read this Wikipedia passage... even I haven't read just pasted it for reference...

So, we can sum up by saying that meme is a social post which is intended for entertainment purpose by mocking at the famous phenomenon and persons...

Let's take a look at some interesting memes

Memes influence on life:

Nowadays, most memes are made just for recreational purposes only. Memes have turned to be a source of entertainment nowadays. People on social media are tagging each other in memes, sharing and retweeting is common. It is a healthy source of entertainment as far as I know.
Many memes pertain to criticism and racism but keeping in mind the sole purpose we can easily forgive these effects. In India, many memes are created on Rahul Gandhi just to mock at him and educate people about the reality. Social media being a vivid and easily reachable platform is turning to be feeding grounds for memes and social awareness.
The Recent trend is like even if a person doesn't read the daily news but he check out his social media for sure, that's why memes are one of the best ways to spread a word.

What it takes to make a meme:

Well, making a meme is tougher than just reading it and laughing at it... It takes a lot of imagination and creativity to create a meme. Nowadays there are many online meme engines which provide a template to write upon and creates a meme... Honestly, you just need to be creative to make a meme and nothing else...

Here are some links to most viral and popular memes:

"I Love You!"- A slang?

Disclaimer
The content written here is purely my personal opinion. This is not intended to hurt any person's feelings or invoke any conflicts. At last, even if someone got offended I am really sorry for that too...

How many days we have been together?-asked the girl. To which boy promptly replied," Technically it's been a week we started chatting! but I feel like we have known each other for millenniums, It seems you are the only one for whom my heart longed for... Shall I say you those Golden Words?"--- Seriously? I mean seriously how can someone be so cheezy just after a week? How come someone says so much caramelised sentences? Isn't this weird?

To which the girl replied,"Are you sure you want to do this? I mean it is only a week, why don't we take time to say those words? You seem to be in a hurry boy... take it easy or else you will fall on your face."--- The girl seemed to be enjoying his company. She is being diplomatic as well as moved by the boy's guts and excitement.

Okay, okay!!! This was an old-school modern story now allow me to take command and elaborate something relevant to my topic...After spending few more days together both proposed each other by exchanging those so-called "Magical, Heavenly, Holy Words", I Love you!"

Now let the story unfold... As every Millenial story twist arrives as expected, both faced "compatibility issues!", claimed that their partner's behaviour is not same as before, "Lack of Interest!", etc,etc... "I think we don't Love each other anymore!!!"...

According to a survey, Almost every second Millineal faces such problems. It seems like we are lacking interest in each other, there are no strong feelings, no strong bonding, no strings attached...
Personally, What I feel is The Expression of Love have evolved merely into a Word! The old principles catering to fundamentals of Love no longer proves to be valid. All those years long heritage seems to be irrelevant to us fast lovers. Seriously, living in a high-speed world we people expect everything to be high-speed! Isn't it wrong? Come on accept it! I know most of us will agree with the fact but then also will try to ignore the scenario and consequences too.

So as to speak we are SOCIAL but there is no SOCIALITY left in us. We make up everything as either a MEME or SARCASM! Even people are taking Love as slangs...You may not be amused to know that a person who said" I Love You" yesterday, was someone you would never meet again or maybe that person could be hanging out with another individual.

It is very depressing as well as humiliating to face this bitter truth of our generation... We people are so-called advanced, enthusiast, technocrats but in reality, we are coward... Fearing to commit, fearing to live rest of the life with a particular individual... What I think is that we have advanced technology just in developing Slangs and memes, and not any feelings or commitments.

The life forward would be biting and steep if recent trend is not changed. Love should again be nurtured with its true feelings and motive... "It is very easy to break something but the real person is the one who mends things!"... In the end, I would like to leave you with a question  "Is I Love you! A slang in today's context?" or "Is Love being materialised justified by recent technological advancements?"
