We have all heard about Yoga and meditation from our parents , elders , at school,in various morning assemblies,during health and fitness programs etc.,No-one in the currently growing health and fitness concious world is unaware of these two powerful terms,which are“ yoga ” and “ meditation ”.However,here is to get a deeper knowledge and understanding of the context.
Yoga
Yoga has been one of the most powerful discoveries in the world.It was the best contribition made by the antient India towards the development of the humankind.Yoga,what we call ‘ yog ’ in hindi,comes from a sanskrit word“ yuj ” meaning “ unity ” or “ to unite ”.It is an aid for the mental,spiritual and physical welbeing of a human through a set of very welldefined physical and mental excercises and practices promoting a sound health of the body,the mind and the soul.Yoga was mentioned in the Rig-veda and has been attributed to the Pre-vedic Indian Traditions. Started way long back,the awareness and adoption of yoga however grew rapidly throughout the world.Yoga has indeed been able to truely abide by the word itself,that is “ yuj ”,as it has been able ‘ to unite ’ people and the world at large for a noble cause.On 21st June , International Yoga Day is celebrated through out the world , where people from all parts of the world participate in huge numbers to practice Yog.
Meditation
Meditation on the other hand is the most important aspect of yoga.As they say , ‘It is anyway easier to control the body , but taming the mind is a relatively harder task ’.Meditation helps one to attain his calm,his peace of mind and develop mental and emotional strength.At first,it is a state where the body goes to a rest on the exterior where as the mind is constantly bubbling with activity.The mind is flooded with Constructive ideas and thoughts and they keep cropping up one after the other till the time they are able to satisfy you to an extent that the mind gains it’s peace and comes to temporary hault ( doesn’t stop working but is as calm as the body ).When the equation of the mind matches with that of the body,it is only then that you actually meditate and experience utter delight.
Benefits of yoga and meditation
It is all true when said and heard,Yoga and meditation are capable of doing wonders.It is no less than a miracle and below mentioned are some points to support the same.
