Geologist - The Undiscovered Path

I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright. People interested and concerned with earth's natural resources, those who study earth's structure and material are known as GEOLOGISTS.

Geologists study about how rock's  were formed and what happened to them since their formation, study about the evolution of life by analysing plant and animal fossils. Geologists are a part of the broader field of GEOSCIENTISTS. Geoscientists usually study and work in one of several closely related geoscience fields including Geology, Geophysics and Hydrology.

How to get there?

  • You need a bachelor's in Geology or a master's degree if they seek a higher positions.
  • A Ph.D is necessary for most basic research and college teaching positions.
  • A degree in Geoscience is prefered by employers although a degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science usually is accepted if it includes coursework in Geology.
  • Computer knowledge is essential for Geoscientists students who have experience with computer modeling, data analysis and digital mapping.

How much does this job pay?
Well, the biggest concern in choosing a career is how much does this job pays you? In this case, the median annual wage for a Geoscientist or Geologist could be $89,780. There are 36,400 jobs in this field.
