We have always accused our religion,our customs and our history of male domination.Many religious tales and stories as mentioned in our literature by the learned hindu scholars present to us a picture of men being superior to women.However,time now has changed and so have we.In todays era we fish for logic backed with a good reasoning.We are not ready to get tricked by baseless stories and follow blindly what others have to preach.
A religion is never rigid or forceful.It is always enlighting and liberating . No religion promotes an unquestioning obedience.If at all we can summon up enough courage to have a differnt view towards things,we will probably be able to answer some unquestioned creeds !
THE GENDER OF GOD
Even though GOD is usually associated with a male figure,according to certain religious beliefs it is also said that GOD presents “ himself ” to be genderless.ln Hindu religion the “ Tri-devas ”, Brahma , Vishnu and Mahesh are all recognized as male entities .
However,there is nothing certain about their birth and origin.It is believed that they came to existence by the force of nature in the form of an energy.Because the reason behind their birth is linked to “ Nature ”,we call it ‘Mother Nature’.
The early man and the age of the Indus valley civilization did not believe in the existence of God.They only preached what made more sense to them.They worshipped mainly Mother Nature which was identified as a feminine force in no human form and the Sun as a male entity .
The only word of power in hindu religion is “ Shakti ” which comes from ‘ ADI-SHAKTI ’ who was Shiva’s wife , also known as Parvati.Shiva along with Parvati created an androgynous form called “ ARDHA - NARISHWARA ”depicting that men and women work as equal halfs of each other to run the world.Thus,God knows no gender.God just knows the wellbeing for all !
THE GENDER OF HUMAN
The human gender is determined by flesh.However,it is believed in hindu religion that flesh,blood and bones only make up the human body which is mortal.But the soul that resides in each body is immortal ! Thus gender is only an outlining concept.A human is only known by the purity of it’s soul.
No human is just a body.It’s soul is what gives it a true identity.The soul has no gender . It is free from all forms.No one can limit it.The body dies away but it is the soul that lives long.Thus what our soul conveys to our body is:
“I have infinite energy and boundless power within myself and no-one can limit it.I’m not just a body,I’m a free soul.I’m a life force!”
