Count your blessings

We are often ungrateful and depressed because we do not have riches and possessions like others.
I'm a girl from a very humble background. Eldest among the two daughters of a man with a very humble job.
I do not have a luxurious house, expensive cars or maids all around me.
I do not own a sophisticated i-phone or a whole lot of designer wears and branded stuffs.
As a kid, I used to feel unhappy when I compared my life to other richer kids. But life taught me that it is through my struggles I learnt to appreciate the little things of life. Had I had all the riches I would have never learnt to feel the problems and pains of others.
My friend,
Its okay not to own an iPhone or branded stuffs. The simple android mobile and the cheap clothes from flea market are enough for survival. There are people without clothes dying of cold.
Its okay not to own a luxurious car. The simple maruti would drop you at the same destination. There are also people without proper legs wishing they can atleast walk.
Its okay not to own a luxurious house. If there's roof above you and you have a good place to sleep, be satisfied. There are people sleeping on pavements. They have no shelter to protect themselves from the chilling wind or the heat wave.
Its okay not to have delicious food everyday. There are people eating from garbage bins and some have not eaten for days and are dying to have the plain rice which you just threw away.
Its okay not to be wealthy. Let us be grateful for being alive and for what we have. There are people diagnosed with deadly diseases and some just passed away wishing to live another more day.
Its time we count every little blessing and be grateful.
If you are reading this post remind yourself that you are a very fortunate person to own a mobile or a laptop and have access to the internet.
Count your blessings.
