A generation, how can we exactly define what a generation is because as the time goes the generation gap which is our topic for now is been reduced drastically. According to me a generation is a group of people born in a range of year gap and the things provided to them generally creates a generation gap, isn’t it. Because as we grow up we tend to think our parents doesn’t or can’t understand what is going in our lives, we slowly and steadily get separated from our parents or from other elderly members of our family.
In the time when my parents were born having a telephone in the house was a privilege and now each member of my family has their own mobile phones and still we are not happy with it. Our parents frequently tell us about their childhood stories and they didn’t had the luxury of an AC room to study in and we all think that the time has changed, definitely the time has changed and we have the access to things which were unthinkable in the past and that’s what I call the generation gap.
Taking example from my house, my mother use a 4.5 inch smartphone and she holds that in one hand and do the work with the other because she is just not used to of all this. She loves to watch serials on TV and me and my brother just hate serials and we only have one TV in our house so now what we have done is install all the related apps on which she can see all of her serials without disturbing us, who would have thought from her generation one would be able to see the TV on a mobile phone, that’s a generation gap.
Coming on to this gap after the technology has taken over, as I said before that the generation gap is getting narrower now a days. For making my point, I would like to bring me into the picture, a 22 year old girl who was unaware of facebook until she passed her 10th standard, and you pick a girl now from the 10th standard oh my god she knows everything there is to know on the internet, I got my first phone when I passed my 11th standard and now a fifth grader has his/her iPhone. The technology which is bringing an update every day has narrowed down the generation gap, if we had a generation gap with our parents they have generation gap with a person who is 5-6 years older than them.
As to conclude I just want to say there is nothing like generation gap it is just the way the world evolves we have things that our parents didn’t had and in future our kids will have things that we can’t even imagine.
