The Wishlist and the Shopping Cart - A Complicated love story

Its been three months and I still haven't come to terms with the fact that I finally ended a relationship that had only caused problems in my life. Although I wasn't a part of it, I have to admit that I was the reason they met. I was the one who let them go on a blind date with each other and it was my money (read my mom's) they spent the whole time. I am talking about the love story of the wishlist and the shopping cart. A relationship that came with its own share of complications. When I realized that they were taking advantage of my greatest weakness, I decided to put an end to it once and for all.

All those who do shopping online may be familiar with the
two main aspects which determine whether we buy anything or not.  If the wishlist is a record of all our 'dreams and aspirations', the shopping cart is a path to fulfill them. We try our best to make those 'dreams come true'. From clothes, accessories, appliances and even groceries, everything is available online. Online shopping has opened the doors to a wide array of choices. Products that aren't available in  retail shops can now be bought online. At times, we end up buying things we don't need. This explains why your wishlist and shopping cart should seldom meet each other. If they do, it will only make a big hole in your pocket.

   Ways to end the relationship

  •  Sale - A major takeaway for every shopper

Sales and discounts are the two means by which e-commerce websites attract shoppers like bees to a hive. But they are just plain marketing strategies used to woo the consumer. Our demands listed out in the wishlist end up in the shopping cart and we buy them only because they come at unbelievably cheap rates. If take a closer look at these, we may realize that the offers are only on products of a lesser quality. They may not last long. So before you buy stuff check whether they are of a good quality. Also, take a look inside your wardrobe and see if you really need them. Chances are you may not.

  •  Let your wish remain  a wish

Wishes are meant to be fulfilled. But make an exception in the case of the wishlist. A wishlist only puts unnecessary pressure over your bank account balance. On the other hand, a shopping cart is the final gateway before we proceed to checkout. Let the things in your wishlist remain a as it is. Try not being impulsive. Instead, keep checking your wishlist everyday before taking a decision. Slowly, you will start losing interest in all the stuff in the wishlist and will delete those items you don't need. Thus, you come out as a prudent and more wiser person than before.

My wishlist and shopping cart rarely see other nowadays. I've succeeded in maintaining a safe distance between them. It doesn't mean that I am  completely free from temptations. There are moments when I feel that I should revive their relationship. But I've realized that it will only make things worse for me. I've kept my calm and things have turned out for the better.
