The world bank forecasts that 702.1 million people ,down from 1.75 billion in 1990. Many other estimates that the true scale of poverty is much higher than the world bank, with an estimated 4.3 million people.
There are various factors for measurement of poverty like Income Poverty or measurements done by United Nations and World bank and many other . Poverty is usually measured as absolute or relative .
The scenario of India for poverty is getting worst day by day . Its not government are not taking any initiatives but still poor people are getting more poor feels like that.
Poverty is of destroyer . Poverty is from the devil. It is not a blessing but it is a curse and it should be remove as soon as possible .Poverty seems to be chronic or temporary ,and most of the time it is closely related to inequality.
In modern society we talk of inequality in hushed tones ,we don’t pay serious attention to the issue of poverty , because the powerful remain relatively untouched by it .
“Poverty is the parent of revolution and crime.” Said the Greek philosopher Aristotle in 380 BC. An imbalance between rich and poor is the oldest and most fatal ailment of all republics . Which made Franklin Rossevelt say “ The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much , It is whether we provide enough for those who have too little”.
When i feed hungry, they call me a saint. When I asked why people are hungry, they called me a communist”. Charity only perpetuates poverty by taking initiative away from the poor . Charity allows us to go ahead with our own lives without worrying about the lives of the people.
Poor people have to go through various human sufferings . Nobody would like to live in poverty . So due to many reasons we cab say that poverty is a curse on humanity . It leads to hunger and lack of shelter . Poor people live in unhygienic conditions and invite host of diseases. They lack medical facilities and die of diseases in want of timely and proper treatment They are in a situation in which they are ill- treated at almost all places. Each time they are left with scars on their spirit of slef-respect.
