Old is Gold- Whether it is a thing or value. What does it mean? Yesterday, I heard my parents saying that their time was good in middle of watching a old film- "Baghban".
Today even i feel that it's the old music only that soothe my mind. Indeed they are melodies and always will be!!
The first thing we learn in our Moral Values is that family is our first teacher. Pretty Interesting!! But some days back, i saw a smallie 2 years old in a creche crying furiously waiting for his mother return.
Values are becoming extinct these days & so the quality of things. Old craftmenship was worthier, old food was of high standards . There are numerous such examples that supports that old is gold. Teachers had concern for their students at that time and schools used to be better centres for learning instead of money-making.
But time waits for nothing & changes rapidly. We have now become touchy, sensitive & extremely suspicious. Every second person can be found abusing other. Smoking and Drinking are seen as a status symbol. Competition has became cut-throat and unfair(Includes misuse of reservation too). In spite of high poverty, people had beauty in their lives which our elders tell us about now.

As families used to joint, a child had a lot to learn from each member of family apart from bookish knowledge which is in high contrast from today where children are kept in creche from beginning of their childhood. Earlier the schooling of a child used to begin at 5-6 years of age beacuse it takes time for child to mature and make himself ready for studies. In this 5 years time, the child was made high in values, manners and ethics which used to help him thorought his life. Nowadays it's not difficult to find a mother chanting A, B, C.. & 1,2,3 in front of their 2 year old child.
There has been a "Downward Spiral" in quality of parenting. Even the teachers at schools have no concern for children. They feel their duty is just to teach, help students cram and pass & thus repeat the same cycle every year. I still feel that 'Gurukul' was the best place to study in order to gain knowledge as well as values in life. At last, Old is Gold and will always be. We listened it from our elders and coming generation will also hear it from their elders.
