How to eat on a banana leaf?

  1. As soon as you have the leaf on your table. Clean it by sprinkling some water on it.
  2. Salt pickle side dishes and sweet are put on the top of the leaf. All the items are arranged in a manner so that they are easily reachable.
  3. You don't require a fork or a spoon to eat when you have hands. The real taste of the food is taken by our hands.
  4. The main item of our south Indian meal is rice. The rice is given in the bottom center of the leaf.
  5. We then divide the heap of rice properly in two ratios. One for sambhar and the other for rasam.
  6. Make a hole in the heap of your divided rice and pour some rasam or sambhar in it.
  7. Due to the fluidity of rasam it makes it difficult to eat. You should eat the rasam chawal in one swift motion of your hand.
  8. Don't forget the side dishes.
  9. Then you get to eat dhai chawal. It aids your digestive system giving you peace.
  10. In the end you have kheer which you eat by breaking the papad on it. To control its fluidity.
  11. If you are finished then put water on the salt at the left side of the leaf.Fold it towards you and you are done.

The  design and methodology behind eating in a leaf is special. Don't ruin it by your comments as how it is unhygienic and cheap. Embrace the beautiful culture you are born in.
