Female Education

Education is the key component for the growth and the development of any nation and the world at large.Education thus becomes a necessity for the establishment of a prosperous society. However,we know that society comprises of both men and women, but when it comes to female education, women and girls are often denied their rights and opportunities.

Even though we are constantly striving to achieve this goal,to educate women,we have still not reached satisfactory results.Female education implies to imparting the basic and required knowledge to women and girls throughout the nation to ensure their growth and awareness. It is to improve their skills, talents and intellect so that they are equally capable to men in bringing about a social change. It is the most important tool for women empowerment.

Female Education During The Vedic Period :
In the vedic age women were never denied their right to education . Women during the vedic period enjoyed equal opportunities to gain knowledge and learn. They too had the right to be a part of the Gurukul culture, learn as well as impart knowledge. As the men scholars of that age were known as Rishis, there were woman scholars too known as Rishikas. An important fact to state is that The Rigveda itself comprises of 30 women scholars.

         The Current Situation
