I got introduced to this term via my Class 11
Chemistry. All the syllabus consisted of, regarding this topic was a set of
chemical reactions indicating the tendency of anything to attain its
equilibrium. I decided to take a more philosophical stance on it and was pretty
disappointed on how the concept of Chemistry, with its dry content, ruined the
inherent beauty of the concept.
My next meeting with this theory was through the form
of anime, which originated from the pioneers of the Ying and Yang concept. This
was kind of like the meaning I had been searching for throughout the entire
course. The belief that there can’t be the complete eradication of good or evil
or any feature from a set of opposites was indeed one of the most comprehensive
yet minimal take on the human race and even our universe for a matter of fact.
This seemed pretty hard for me to believe at first.
Being the visionary, that one day I could possibly eliminate all sadness from
this planet, this hit me like a bulldozer. But, it was around that time, I
started watching the anime, Death Note When the protagonist of the story gets a
solid chance at wiping out evil as a whole, he gets blinded with ambition. The transitioning
of the character was very convincing and the viewers, seldom felt that his actions
weren't justified. It was the first instance wherein I realized that our
organic bodies aren’t meant to live up to visionary utopias created by the
communication between neurons.
As I started venturing into the world of
socio-political affairs, I got my taste of even more convincing stories. Not
that the intention was wrong. But our principally flawed organic framework
couldn't
stick on to the laid out plan. At some point, human irrationality
under the façade of “Ambition” takes over. This is where, the predator becomes
prey. They become the heir to all evil they managed to eradicate so far and become
the torch bearers for decade long genocides and mass-murders.
While humanity is sickened by the act, the greater
concept of equilibrium prevails, bringing back the coexistence of good and evil.
Upon reflecting at this, all could feel was the feeling of being inferior,
being insignificant.
We, Homo Sapiens have been time and again bestowed the
title of the “Alpha-Male”. But, upon realizing the fact that we too are subject
to the ravages of time, which culminate our journey of never ending ambition in
the 6 feet of ground being death, I think its high time we became sensitive and
paid heed to our very insignificance. Now, it isn’t something we need to look
at, from a pessimistic point of view, rather, it is our calling to cherish
every instant possible. Life is too short to be wasted being a workaholic, appeasing
your supreme leader. We are all insignificant specks of dust in the galaxy.
