The proverb : All that glitters is not gold simply means that things are not always as they seem ti be and so we should not accept it just by how it looks.
Gold is a metal that glitters but that doesn't mean that anything that glitters is as precious as gold! We must remember , brass also glitters when polished and so do gilded ornaments made of base metals.
Unfortunately , most of the people are carried away by false look and outward glitter of men and things. They wrong think that when the exterior is so brilliant and amazing , the interior maybe equally so.
But the real worth of a man or a thing does not lie in its outward look. The real worth lies deep inside the person.
Most of the people , however , forget it and run after things only that glitter irrespective of recognising their real worth.
The world is full of both real and virtual cheats.
A villain may look like a saint , a fool may pass for a learned man , a cruel man may pose as a kind soul and a man may look like an innocent being. The virtual being is much different than the real one.
A person might look as the innocent of the innocents but may have a mind of devil.
He might pose to be kind but would be the mean soul.
The devil may cite scriptures and manipulate the simple minded people.
Being carried out by people's exterior nature may lead us to trouble.
It may make us doubt others personality too.
It is for all this that we should be careful of judging anything.
We must analyse and evaluate their merits , their qualities and not just judge them by their appearance.
We must remember , face is not always an index of mind!
