"Focus means eliminating distractions, not just from other people, but the things we do to distract ourselves." — Catherine Pulsifer
When it comes to draining your focus, there is one habit we all do that trumps all the others. 'Checking your mobile phones continually is the worst habit that break up our attention. Think about it, how many times a day do you check your phone? Is it 20 times? Or is it more like 30? A study tells that an average users have more than 70 sessions per day. Every ping, notification, and text we get makes us stop what we are doing, switch our attention, and then try to come back to what we were doing before. So this is the worst habit that we all are addictive on a regular base.
Also there are many more activities that drain focus and they are as under —
(A)Worrying,
- If something can be solved, why worry about it?
- If something can’t be solved, why worry about it?
- The best way to solve an issue is to focus on solving it. So, focus.
- The timeline gives us a sense of direction and time. We need time line.
- You can simply establish your daily timeline through Sticky Note. Keep it simple. You can see mine at the top.
- The key is to set it realistically and follow it with discipline.
- You don’t have to reply the emails immediately.
- You don’t have to express your thoughts immediately.
- You don’t have to get upset immediately.
- We can be anything, but we can’t be everything.
- If we pull ourselves in all directions, we get nowhere.
- Aim. Fire. Not simply fire. Focus is limited and precious.
- You don't live in the future.
- You don't live in the past either.
- You live in the now.
- Stop escaping mentally. Focus on your task at hand.
- Nothing else.
However, if you want to absolutely get the most bang for your buck, you'd be better off cutting these out of your life and follow the best timetable.
